Abstract
Pulmonary thromboembolism is one of the most important causes of morbidity and mortality in patients undergoing hip and lower extremity orthopedic surgery. Symptoms and signs of pulmonary thromboembolism included shortness of breath, rapid respiratory rate, cyanosis, chest pain, cough, and hemoptysis may be absent in the anesthetized, ventilated patient. So pulmonary thromboembolism is difficult to make a diagnosis in operation room. We should pay attention to patient who have risk of pulmonary thromboembolism in operation room and we should take early diagnosis and appropriate management that are important clinical challenges.
